That’s what it’s all about for me. It could be the same for you or maybe it’s because you want to earn more money.

Whatever the reason you have decided the life of entrepreneurship is for you too.

It’s not like they teach how to be an entrepreneur in school…

…which I think they should

There is a huge learning curve when being your own boss.

That’s why it’s good to learn from those that have already developed the habits needed to be successful as an entrepreneur.

The Ten Personal Development Habits For Successful Entrepreneurs

#1. Exercise Every Day

Before I start the work day I exercise and it helps me be much more productive. I notice a huge difference if I skip a day I’m not nearly as effective.

Now I’ve been in the routine of exercise for decades now so I get it if you are not into a routine of exercise…

…but you should definitely get started with this.

Just give yourself a minimum of 15 minutes of some sort of exercise. It doesn’t have to be a long workout. You will feel the positive effects from just a short walk, run, or whatever you choose that gets your heart pumping.

Being physically fit will also give you mental clarity and help to get rid of stress and anxiety that all entrepreneurs face on a daily basis.

#2. Take Time To Read And Educate Yourself

When I was first thinking of becoming an entrepreneur I talked with friends I felt comfortable speaking with about their business and what they would recommend to someone that wanted to be their own boss.

One of the things they all agree on was the importance to keep growing and learning. Reading a book for a few chapters every day can make a huge difference.

Both Warren Buffet And Mark Cuban Agree on this as a key to success.

Heck if a couple of billionaires are doing this then it won’t hurt if you do this too.

#3. Keep Track Of Your Progress

I like to track my progress by keeping a journal that I update on a regular basis. Sometimes I don’t feel like anything is getting done as fast as I’d like, but when I refer back to my journal I see very quickly that I’ve been doing all the right things and right on track to reach my goals.

And sometimes I see that I am lagging in an area and this helps me to work on that before it becomes a big problem.

If you prefer you can do this by typing or creating a spreadsheet. You’ll gain valuable knowledge by making this part of your routine.

Make sure to keep track of your weeks, months, and even thoughts that come to mind. I keep a separate note pad with me that I carry on me.

You know you have an idea that is awesome for your business, but later can’t remember exactly what it was… I solve that problem by writing it down immediately.

#4. Make A Routine And Stick To It

I’ve found that sticking to a routine is very important to keep myself grounded and structured throughout the day.

Wake up, exercise, take care of hygiene then eat and work my day. If you aren’t one that likes structure you’ll find it very useful as an entrepreneur.

The best entrepreneurs all have routines they stick with. This will also help lower stress and help you avoid missing deadlines.

#5. Do The Most Challenging Task First

As I plan out my week or month I highlight the task that absolutely has to get accomplished for that day and it’s usually the most challenging of the day too.

Doing the most challenging task first also makes the rest of your day much easier.

The feeling of accomplishment also sets you up to be more successful the rest of the time day because you know you got done the hardest part of the day.

So take a look at your day and get a highlighter and mark the one or two most important tasks. These are things that have to get done and help your business to move forward.

#6. Improve Your Sales Skills

My background is in sales and marketing so becoming an entrepreneur felt natural to me because it’s about selling your service or product.

Some of the ways you can improve your sales skills are to take a course, read a book and role play with your employees. They can use the training too.

Learning to sell is a vital skill that every entrepreneur needs and when you’re good at it your bank account will thank you.

#7. Time Management

As an entrepreneur the days are busy and sometimes it feels like there is not enough time in the day to accomplish everything that needs to get done.

One way to minimize this is to manage your time. This keeps you on a task on projects that make your business money.

A mistake some newer entrepreneurs make is that they do a lot of busy work, but it’s work that does not actually profit their business.

Delegate tasks that are less important to employees or if you are the only one in your business hire a freelancer to get simple tasks done for you.

#8. Go To Bed Early

I’ve always been a night owl and hated waking up early. I needed to change this to be more productive and successful with my business.

Instead of going to bed at midnight I gradually worked my way to 10 P.M. Going to bed earlier has been beneficial in many ways.

If you are already doing this you are ahead of the game. If you are a night owl like I was then you should start doing this now.

Try in increments of 30 minutes earlier till you reach the time that gets you to bed at the desired time. Try to get to bed no later than 11 P.M.

#9. Schedule Time For Yourself

It’s easy for one day to blend into the next when you are an entrepreneur and before long you are neglecting yourself.

This could be something as simple of taking time to have lunch with a friend or getting away at designated times of the day pursue a hobby that helps you unwind and refreshes your mind and body.
