It’s seems like yesterday I was saying this to myself.
Are you in a situation where you too tell yourself i hate my job but i need the money?
If you are there are steps you can take to have better days ahead.
My problem was compounding over time.
I kept earning more money each year and this made it more difficult to quit my job.
The job was stressful with long hours that left me with little time for a social life.
And my boss was awful most of the employees would agree with me.
It came to a point where my own happiness became more important than my job.
That’s when things began to change for the better.
I started to learn what steps to take so I could quit my job and do something that I enjoyed as well as make money doing it.
I hate my job but i need the money is now a thing of the past.
And it can be for you too if you take the right steps.
When You Hate Your Job And Can’t Afford To Quit
Below Are Some Steps You Can Take When You Want To Quit Your Job But Can’t Afford To Yet:
#1. Evaluate Where You Are
Get a paper and pencil and jot down where you are.
Ask yourself the following questions:
Do I Hate My Job or My Co-workers?
Do I Hate My Boss or The Working Conditions?
How much do I need to live on?
If I quit how long can I last without a pay check?
Brainstorm and be as honest as possible with yourself on why you really hate your job.
#2. Create Your Plan
I didn’t give in to my emotions and just quit.
No before giving my two weeks notice I created a plan of action.
Start with a budget because you need to know exactly how much you have coming in and going out every month.
Create a budget it’s your financial tool.
Review your budget and look for things you can eliminate such as:
- Cable Bill
- Going out to eat
- Unused gym memberships
If you hate your job enough you should be willing to make the needed sacrifices.
#3. Stack Cash
While you are working make it a priority to save as much money as you can.
The rule of thumb is to have at least 6 -9 months of emergency cash on hand.
At this time 63% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

This can create panic and even more stress so make sure to get this right.
#4. Start Your Job Search
Depending on how long you have been at your job you will probably need to dust off your resume and get it ready for your job search.
Make sure you have updated your resume and begin the process of networking on Linkedin and other social media profiles.
It also a good idea to put your personal social media profiles on private during this time.
#5. Don’t Neglect Your Current Job
You don’t want to get fired so make sure to keep up with your current job duties.
If you start slacking off it makes staying at your job even more difficult because your co-workers will notice and of course your boss will notice too.
